Introduction

At Madrasah Taleemul Islam we strive with great passion to ensure all students have a comfortable and enjoyable learning experience when they attend Madrasah. Over the past few years, we have endeavoured to develop a robust syllabus to maximize the outcome of all our student’s learning. Through the syllabus we have put in place, we pray that our students become good practicing Muslims who love their creator, their religion and everything connected to our deen.

Aims of the Madrasah

From the foundation class, we aim to teach the children how to recite the Quran by teaching them how to recognise and pronounce the Arabic letters to a high standard and take them through the Ahsanul Qawaaid book where they will learn how to spell the Arabic words with the correct pronunciation alongside learning the Tajweed rules whilst maintaining the quality.

As well as teaching the children how to recite the Quran, we aim to equip the children with the essential knowledge and understanding of our deen, instilling in them the importance of the Quran and Sunnah, which will ultimately enable them to develop a solid Islamic and personal character. In Sha Allah through our aim the children will be able to safely engage in the diverse modern age.

As the students move up the classes, they then go onto reading the Quran whilst implementing all that they learnt in the foundation classes. Alongside the reading of the Quran, students will also engage in different Islamic studies, some of which are practical lessons, such as learning how to pray Salah, perform Wudhu, learning the Azaan (call to prayer), how to perform Janaazah (funeral prayers) and much more. Students will also study the Islamic Curriculum books and other books such as the Child’s Gift book which cover a wide range of topics that consist of the following subjects:

  • Fiqh (Islamic Law)

  • Hadeeth (Teachings of Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alyhi Wasallam))

  • Seerah (Life of Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alyhi Wasallam))

  • Tarikh (Islamic History)

  • Aqa’id (Islamic Beliefs)

  • Akhlaq (Character)

  • Adab (Manners)

  • Duas (Prayers/Supplications)

Alhamdulillah, we also run Hifz classes at the Madrasah and have been doing so for a few years. In Sha Allah, we pray that all our students can memorise the Quran. Students who wish to join the Hifz class will start by memorising the smaller Surahs (chapters) of the Quran. The students will regularly be supported by their teacher to assist them to achieve set targets. As the students progress from the smaller Surahs, they will be assessed on a regular basis by their teacher and the headteacher to ensure they are comfortable and are performing at the best possible level.
